Dare Arts is seeking an organized & creative self-starter to serve as our part-time Program Director. The job, entailing an average of 15-20 hours per week working at our Gallery in Manteo, at off-site events, and remotely from home, will require some nights and weekends. This is a public-facing, event-planning position that pays $16-$18 an hour based on experience. The Dare Arts Program Director reports to the Executive Director.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
Program Management: Serving as the primary point of contact for Dare Arts programs, including but not limited to Artrageous, Rock The Cape, Veterans Program, First Friday, and the Outer Banks Film Society.
Scheduling: Working with event stakeholders to manage timelines.
Venue Management: Securing venues for events by submitting venue applications & permits, etc.
Budgeting: Working with the Executive Director to set and work within budgets for each program.
Communication: Handling emails, phone calls, and texts with artists, performers, committee members, instructors, partner organizations, vendors and volunteers in a professional and timely manner. Leading event meetings efficiently.
Marketing: Working with the Media Director to ensure marketing needs and deadlines are met for all programs.
Reporting: Providing regular updates/reports on programs to Dare Arts staff.
Qualifications & Requirements
Event planning experience
Proficiency in Google Drive, Docs, & Sheets
Valid driver’s license
Excellent customer service
Organization, strong attention to detail, and follow-through
Creative and proactive approach to problem-solving that includes patience, resilience, and a positive attitude
Ideal Candidate has:
A background working in the arts.
Enthusiasm for community engagement and making a positive difference.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills with diverse groups of people.
A collaborative, creative, and team-oriented spirit.
Experience with Canva
About Dare Arts
Located on the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina, Dare County Arts Council is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to encouraging the arts in Dare County through advocacy, enrichment and opportunity. Dare Arts operates a fine arts and craft gallery for emerging and established artists, providing a constantly rotating exhibit of local & regional art. The gallery is located in the historic 1904 Dare County Courthouse, located at 300 Queen Elizabeth Avenue in downtown Manteo, NC.
