Letters From Home To Bring History Alive Through The Arts

The community is invited to take a trip down memory lane and experience Letters From Home, a heartfelt, powerful evening of song, dance, and storytelling, at The Pioneer Theater in Manteo on Saturday, November 7 at 7:00pm.
Coordinated by Dare Arts as a part of Outer Banks Veterans Week, Letters From Home is a patriotic tribute featuring timeless music from the 1940s through today with a mission to honor Veterans and unite people through music. The performance creates a meaningful experience for all ages with vintage flair, improv comedy, a dash of audience interaction, and a sentiment of pure positivity.
“We are so thrilled to welcome Letters From Home, as a part of our Outer Banks Veterans Week celebration,” said Dare Arts Program Director Meredith Timberlake. “This will be a unique, fun, and informative experience for all ages, and we are grateful to our friends at The Pioneer Theater for hosting this wonderful event.”
Having performed over 1,000 shows across the world, Letters From Home features high-energy singing and tap dancing by founder Erinn Dearth and her husband Dan Beckmann.
“Every time we perform for Veterans and their families, we are reminded that these songs are so much more than music, they are memories,” said Letters From Home founder Erinn Dearth. “We can’t wait to bring Letters From Home to The Pioneer Theater and create an evening where Veterans feel celebrated and families feel connected.”
This performance is free and open to the public, but tickets must be reserved in advance online at DareArts.org/veterans. All seating is first come, first served.
Doors will open at 6:30pm, and concessions can be purchased from The Pioneer Theater.
The Letters From Home performance will kick-off Outer Banks Veterans Week, which runs November 7-15.
The week will culminate with the Outer Banks Veterans Writing Workshop, which will be held at the Coastal Studies Institute, ECU Outer Banks Campus November 14-15, and will be facilitated by educator, editor, and Veteran Dario DiBattista.
There are five spots left for the Veterans Writing Workshop, which is free for Veterans, active-duty military, and their extended family members. Those interested can register online at DareArts.org/veterans.
Dare Arts will also be creating the Outer Banks Veterans Week Directory, a calendar of Veteran celebrations, events, and special offers from Duck to Hatteras Village happening around Veteran’s Day.
Groups or businesses interested in listing their Veteran events and/or specials in the directory should email Dare Arts Program Director Meredith Timberlake at DareArtsPrograms@gmail.com.
