Celebrating the Arts on Hatteras Island 

2022 Rock the Cape Festival

Entering its 10th year, Rock The Cape will span two days of free, family-friendly fun celebrating the visual and performing arts on Hatteras Island June 2 and June 3.

On Thursday, June 2 there will be a full day of art and live music at Kitty Hawk Kites' Waves Village Watersports Resort at Milepost 40 in Rodanthe. 

On Friday, June 3 Rock The Cape will host Friday Arts on the Island, which is a First Friday tour of the galleries on Hatteras Island. A full schedule of participating galleries is listed below.

Art Show + Concert Details

The day will start at 12pm with an art show featuring 30 local artists and Hatteras Island musicians Rory Kelleher, Brian Surrat, Loose Wheel, Sam on Sax, Izzy Pop, and Eli Thompson playing acoustic tunes during on the front lawn.

A soundfront concert on the deck at Kitty Hawk Kites will start at 5pm. There will be funk, rock, reggae, and psychedelic jams by VSTLTY from Greenville, NC, Higher Education from Baltimore, MD, and Safe Space from Hatteras Island and New Bern, NC.

Friday Arts On The Island

On Friday, June 3 Rock The Cape will host Friday Arts on the Island, which is an all day First Friday tour of the galleries on Hatteras Island. The galleries listed below will be participating in Friday Arts on the Island with demonstrations, classes, sales, raffles, music, food and drink, and more!

Rock the Cape Festival History

Rock the Cape was started in 2012 as an initiative to celebrate the galleries, artists, and artistic community on Hatteras Island.

 

The annual event is held at the beginning of summer as a way to kick off the busy season on the island.

 

Rock the Cape brings a full slate of artistic activities from Rodanthe to Hatteras Village, including an art show, live art demonstrations, a concert, and much more.
