Trio Live coming to Downtown Manteo!
Join Downtown Books and the Dare County Arts Council on Friday, March 1, at 7pm, for a special one-night-only Trio Live pop up show! Trio was conceived by NC writer and singer Shari Smith and is a traveling exhibit of art, music and literature that celebrates the inspirational power of great storytelling.
Each Trio starts with a book, which is given to a musician and a visual artist, who then write a song, a piece of music, and a work of art inspired by the story. Fifteen books are chosen- many with strong Southern ties- and a wide variety of subjects and genres are represented from novels to non-fiction to prize winners!
One of 2019's titles is the middle-grade novel Smack Dab in the Middle of Maybe for which author Jo Watson Hackl just received the Southern Book Prize! Jo is one of the authors participating in the show/exhibit that will take place on the second floor of the Arts Council in the historic Dare County courthouse at 7pm. Other authors in attendance will be Donna Everhart, Tony Grooms, Anna Jean Mayhew, Elaine Orr, Nicole Sarrocco, Jana Sasser, Andrea Thome and Shari Smith. Several artists and musicians will also be on hand along with entire 2019 Trio art exhibit.
Trio is a testament to the way words, music and art can come together in a single story. The event is free and open to the public and coincides with the Arts Council First Friday opening of the James Melvin solo show. For more information, call 252 473 5558.
