Celebrate the Arts at the Black Opal Masquerade Ball

Presented by TowneBank

The largest art party of the year, Dare County Arts Council’s Black Opal Masquerade Ball, will be held on Saturday, October 28 at Pirate’s Cove Pavilion in Manteo from 7pm-12am.

Hailing from Augusta, GA six-piece band Funk You will headline Black Opal with a crowd captivating performance, keeping everyone on the dance floor with their fusion of funk, jam, rock, and progressive music. The band will be accompanied by an energy driven horn section.

“Funk You is extremely excited about playing at the Black Opal Masquerade Ball,” said Funk You’s drummer Will Clark. “It gives us great pleasure to help benefit the arts in Dare County. We highly encourage everyone to pursue the arts in all of its forms. We are looking forward to playing at this great event, and can’t wait to boogie down with everyone.”

Delicious, upscale street style food and open bar by Basnight’s Lone Cedar Café, magical décor by Nancy Harvey of Holiday House, and a silent auction full of fine art and exclusive packages will compliment the evening’s entertainment.

“Our silent auction this year is brimming with awesome items, from overnight stays at The Castle Bed and Breakfast in Ocracoke to gift cards to the best restaurants the Outer Banks has to offer,” said Black Opal committee member and Dare County Arts Council board member Molly Marks. “Our unique packages of donated items, like our wedding planning package, children’s package, and a home care package, coupled with art donated by our wonderful artists in Dare County and beyond make the Black Opal silent auction something you won’t want to miss. Let the bidding begin!”

Black Opal guests are encouraged to embrace the “costumed spectacle” wearing their own creative attire- whether it is a black tie, masquerade mask, or a completely wild, artistically inspired costume.

Presented by TowneBank, the Black Opal Masquerade Ball is the perfect opportunity for the Outer Banks community and visitors to enjoy an inclusive evening while celebrating and supporting the arts.

“Dare County Arts Council has been a vital part of the Outer Banks community for more than 40 years, working to develop, encourage, and enhance the arts, ” said Taylor Sugg, TowneBank North Carolina President. “TowneBank is honored to sponsor the Black Opal Masquerade Ball.”

Black Opal is Dare County Arts Council’s annual fundraiser, which enables the nonprofit organization to fulfill their mission, support working and student artists, promote the visual and performing arts, and host an abundance of entertainment and arts programming each year.

There are limited tickets left for Black Opal, so be sure to secure yours soon. Tickets are $125 per person and are available online at DareArts.org/blackopal, BrownPaperTickets.com, and at Dare County Arts Council in downtown Manteo. Guests are also able to reserve tables of eight for $1,500.
