Iryna Welch Exhibit
In My Mind
In July our Courtroom Gallery will feature oil paintings by Outer Banks artist Iryna Welch.
This exhibition presents a sampling of topics in traditional realism style of oil painting.
Iryna's work is inspired by the essence of beauty in all things. She is fascinated by how light bounces around this world, and believes light is the true subject of art. Through the body of work in this exhibition Iryna is driven to capture moments in time through the prism of her mind.
"I find that there is too little observance of beauty in our surroundings in this modern world, so simply put, I paint what I find beautiful." - Iryna Welch

"I had some formal art education as a teenager when I was growing up in Belarus. Now, many years later, I realized that something was missing from my life, and it was art. Back in 2017 after a 16-year hiatus, I obtained all new arts supplies and started creating. I never stopped. I have received a few local art awards in the last few years, such as an Excellence Award in the Mollie Fearing Memorial Art Show, an Honorable Mention Award in the Frank Stick Memorial Art Show, and North Carolina Arts Council Artist Support Grant. I live and create on the beautiful Outer Banks, but frequently return to Europe for inspiration, especially to the birthplace of Renaissance - Italy. You will see quite a few works inspired by it. Being curious by nature, I don’t usually settle on one particular subject. I like to challenge myself with painting various areas and compositions." said Iryna
