The Longest Running Visual Arts Exhibit In Dare County
2024 Frank Stick Memorial Art Show
The 46th Annual Frank Stick Memorial Art Show will open at Dare Arts on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 6pm.
Artists wishing to participate in the show can find the prospectus and sign up for a specific time to drop off their work on the buttons below.
Artist Eric Burris will judge the 2024 Frank Stick Memorial Art Show. Burris has been a practicing metalsmith and educator for 25 years and is currently the metals studio coordinator at Pocosin Arts School of Fine Craft.
After the opening, the show will be open for viewing during normal gallery hours February 3 through February 24, 2024.
About The Frank Stick Memorial Art Show
The annual show is held in memory of Outer Banks preservationist and artist Frank Stick, who was instrumental in having miles of the Cape Hatteras Seashore designated as the first National Seashore.
The Frank Stick Memorial Art Show is the longest running visual arts exhibit in Dare County. The exhibit goes on display every winter at Dare Arts. In 2017, the show was held at the Dare Arts Gallery for the first time since its inception.
Artists are encouraged to enter their most innovative work for the possibility of winning the distinctive Eure Best in Show Award, which is an ode to Glenn and Pat Eure for their many years of hosting the Frank Stick Memorial Art Show at Ghost Fleet Gallery.
The Frank Stick Memorial Art Show is open to Dare Arts members and residents of Dare County age 18 and over.
Over 80 artists participated in the 46th Annual Frank Stick Show. Artist and educator Eric Burris carefully selected the following award recipients:
Eure Best In Show: Cathy Spivey Mendola "Rust Never Sleeps" (hand stitching on eco printed fabrics)
Excellence Awards: David Beal "Tranquility #1" (oil on canvas), Alla Rossow "Dance of the Wings" (paper collage), Cyndi Goetcheus Sarfan "Did You See Me? Will You Save Me?" (photography), and Judith Saunders "Come Fly With Me" (copper woven vessel)
Honorable Mentions: Andy Howell "Keepers" (acrylic on wood panel), Amy Snowden "Night Warrior" (watercolor), and Kitty Dough "Rippin' Snortin' Rocket Morton" (sculpture)
People's Choice: Emily Holmes “Full Fathom Five” (acrylic, ink, pencil, collage)
