A scientist in a surrealist society kidnaps children to steal their dreams, hoping that they slow his aging process. Ron Perlman stars as One, a fairground strongman, who sets out to look for his missing little brother. The directors, Marc Caro and Jean-Pierre Jeunet, went on from their first collaboration Delicatessen (1991) to make this film, so innovative that they needed to create new software for the special effects.
