As Dare Arts continues to grow and evolve as an organization, so does the nonprofit's staff. In February, Dare Arts welcomed new Program Director Meredith Timberlake, and simultaneously Robert Rogers assumed the new position of Community Arts Coordinator.
Prior to moving to the Outer Banks, Timberlake was the Executive Director of Chowan Arts Council, and she brings 20 years combined experience in the arts and nonprofit world to her new position.
“I have worked in galleries, cultural art centers, arts councils, and museums throughout VA, NC, and SC,” said Timberlake. “With a degree in studio art, art history, and gallery studies, I know that my heart is in the arts, and I want to use my experience to impact and change lives through creativity.”
Originally from Richmond, VA, Timberlake says she grew up vacationing on the Outer Banks and always dreamed of living and working here.
“As the new Program Director for Dare Arts, I am lucky to combine my passion for what I do for where I live now, as well,” said Timberlake. “Arts Councils exist to carry a mission, and I am so excited to be a part of the team at Dare Arts who so passionately delivers its mission to all.”

With the addition of Timberlake, Robert Rogers has transitioned to the new role of Community Arts Coordinator at Dare Arts.
“Art is more than just creativity; it is a language that transcends barriers,” said Robert Rogers. “In my new role as Community Arts Coordinator, I am able to leverage creative expression to help build confidence, develop skills, and help individuals in our community discover their voices. Dare Arts’ Power of Art serves as a vital, accessible program that fosters human connection and social transformation by creating spaces for shared artistic experiences. It bridges divides in an increasingly isolated world, fostering empathy, community pride, and personal well-being. The result is a stronger, more resilient community.”
Rogers and Timberlake will be working with the rest of Dare Arts’ team to ensure that the arts on the Outer Banks continue to thrive.
“With an incredible blend of experience and energy, we couldn’t be more excited to welcome Meredith to our team and celebrate Robert in his new role,” said Dare Arts Executive Director Jessica Sands. “With their unique skills and shared passion for connecting people through the arts, they’re sure to make a meaningful impact in our community.”
