The Friends of Jockey’s Ridge kick-off celebrations for the State Park’s 50th anniversary with a first of its kind invitational art exhibit. Twenty well-known local artists will highlight the connection between art, nature and community with original works inspired by Jockey’s Ridge.

The opening reception is scheduled for Thursday, April 17th at 6:00pm inside the State Park’s Visitor Center, located at 300 W Carolista Dr, Nags Head. The reception offers the opportunity to meet with several of the artists and is the first public viewing of pieces representing a range of mediums and styles.

All art will be for sale, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Friends of Jockey’s Ridge. The mission of the Friends of Jockey’s Ridge is to support, protect, and promote the Ridge as a significant geologic and cultural feature of the Outer Banks. Last year, the Friends group helped fund over 400 educational programs at the park, supported facility updates, and continued to be a leader in the conversation about protecting and preserving Jockey’s Ridge.
