Award-winning photographers Shirley Whitenack and Richard St. Peter are teaching a digital photography class on Saturday, November 16 from 8:30am to 4pm.

Class will begin at Marshes Lighthouse in Manteo for a hands-on photoshoot, and then will move over to Dare Arts where students will receive practical advice about how to use their camera.

Get out of auto mode and take advantage of all your digital camera has to offer! In this class, you will learn basic camera mechanics, shooting modes, metering modes, and electronic flash. In addition, you will learn the fundamentals of exposure, exposure compensation, as well as the relationship of shutter speed, f-stop, and ISO setting. Focus, point of focus, and focus lock will also be explained. Photographs, demonstrations, and hands-on learning will reinforce the classroom instruction. Each participant will receive a binder of photography handouts to keep for future reference.
