Carolyn Sleeper Exhibit

Evolution

In April, our Vault Gallery will feature one-of-a-kind ceramic pieces by artist Carolyn Sleeper.

Carolyn's artwork is ever-changing, always growing, through her explorations with new forms and pushing the limits of what clay can do. Her pottery employs multiple forming methods with stoneware fired in oxidation at cone 6.

Her main emphasis is relaying the joy of life and imagination, represented through Eastern North Carolina flora and fauna, eliciting smiles from the viewer. Carolyn's whimsical artwork is frequently embellished by found objects and copper to make the sculptures more expressive, and to help enforce her vision of creating something that shows both the past as well as the present.

She graduated from Morehead State University as a fine arts major, and has augmented her artistic career with classes and workshops at Old Dominion University, Savannah College of Art and Design, Tidewater Community College and Virginia Commonwealth University. Carolyn has been a lifelong learner, developing her style through workshops led by great instructors: Don Davis, Lana Wilson and Akira Satake to name a few.
