Growing up in Manteo, photographer/filmmaker Chris Hannant had "an amazing childhood" spent enjoying the beauty and small-town charm of the town while exploring and looking for adventure. He says he recognized, at an early age, a "pull" toward photography.
Warned that a career in photography would be "risky," Hannant says he was "just stubborn enough" to say, “I don't care. This is where I feel myself being pulled. I want to follow that."
One of four Outer Banks "emerging artists" being honored by the Dare County Arts Council during its fundraising gala, the Bayou Ball, sponsored by TowneBank on Oct. 27. The Emerging Artists program features four cutting edge, up-and-coming artists in Dare County. The idea for the program grew out of DCAC's long-standing emphasis on fostering new relationships with younger artists across multiple disciplines.
