Mystery Writers Hold Outer Banks Retreat

Seventeen mystery writers from the six-state Southeast Chapter of Mystery Writers of America will gather on the Outer Banks for a retreat from Thursday, April 12 to Sunday, April 15.

Maggie Toussaint, current president of the Southeast Chapter of the Mystery Writers of America, said, “We are delighted to be back at the Outer Banks for a retreat. We were here in 2016 and had a most productive and creative time—and thoroughly enjoyed the area and the hospitality shown us.”

On Saturday, April 14 Dare County Arts Council will host a reception for the writers at the old courthouse Gallery in Manteo. The reception is scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. The public is invited and urged to attend.

Chris Sawin, Executive Director of the Dare County Arts Council, said, “It’s a pleasure to host a reception for these fascinating mystery writers. So plan to come to the courthouse, headquarters of the Arts Council, for light refreshments and to learn a bit more about this group of writers.”

The event is free and the authors, after brief introductory talks, will be available for book signing. Jamie Hope Anderson of Downtown Books will handle sales for those wishing to purchase one of the authors’ books.
