The Dare County Arts Council announced the award winners of the 6th Annual Mollie Fearing Memorial Art Show at the show's opening reception, Sunday, May 4, 2003 at the Gallery at Roanoke Island Festival Park. Judges Ken Bowen and Philip Guilfoyle awarded 5 Excellence Awards 'Mollies' and 10 Honorable Mentions. People's Choice Award went to Sandy Nelson McNeal "The Railbird", oil.
This show is in honor of one of the founding members of the Dare County Arts Council and one of our community's finest leaders, Mollie Fearing. Over 300 artists, members and guests attended the opening reception in honor of the late Mollie Fearing. Mollie's daughter, Grizelle Fearing and her husband Tom McDonald, generously sponsored this year's reception (catered by Kelly's Restaurant). The Dare County Arts Council extends a BIG THANK YOU to Grizelle and Tom, Roanoke Island Festival Park, our generous sponsors, and volunteers for all of their support in keeping the arts alive in Dare County!
