Dare County Arts Council Announces
Regional Artist Project Grants
Regional Artist Project (RAP) Grants provide financial support to developing professionals by funding a project pivotal to the advancement of their careers as artists. Proposed Projects must be concluded by June 30, 2010. Both emerging artists and artists who have completed formal training are encouraged to apply.
RAP Grants are supported by 31 counties in the east, including Dare. Applications are available at the Dare County Arts Council, 104 Sir Walter Raleigh Street in Manteo, or you may download the forms here by clicking here:

The grant deadline is October 16, 2009. Applications must be received at Dare County Arts Council by 5:00 pm. To submit by mail, please address applications to Dare County Arts Council, Attn: RAP Grant, PO Box 2300, Manteo, NC 27954.
Artists working in the visual arts, performing arts or literature are welcome to apply.

ARTS COUNCIL OFFERING FUNDING FOR AREA CULTURAL ARTS GROUPS
The Dare County Arts Council (DCAC) is currently accepting applications for the 2000-2010 Grassroots Arts Program. As the local Designated County Partner (DCP) for the North Carolina Arts Council (NCAC), the Dare County Arts Council is entitled to subgrant 50% of its Grassroots subsidy. The remaining funds are used to support DCAC’s administration and programs.
Funds are available to non-profit, tax exempt organizations in Dare County whose purpose is to promote and develop the arts in this community. Proposals will be evaluated for artistic merit, organizational stability, financial stability of the organization, audience development (size and cultural diversity), educational merit, responsiveness to the community’s artistic needs and community outreach. State agencies are not eligible for funding. Proposals must be for projects that occur between July 1, 2009 and June 30, 2010.
Past recipients of grassroots funds have been Concert Chorale of the Outer Banks, Outer Banks Forum for the Lively Arts, Cape Hatteras School PTS, First Flight Elementary School PTS, Frisco Native American Museum, International Icarus, Theatre of Dare, Wright Centennial Festival Ensemble, Roanoke Island Freemen’s Association, Dare County Parks and Recreation, Outer Banks Hotline and The Lost Colony. APPLICATION DEADLINE is October 15, 2009.
Applicants are asked to use the eGrant software found at the North Carolina Art Council’s website www.ncarts.org to complete their subgrant applications. Hard copies of complete subgrant applications must be mailed to and received by DCAC on or before October 15 , 2009.
